I recently went into my VMware Workstation based lab and found that a few of my VMs did not have Internet or LAN Access. When looking at the Settings of the VMs, the Network Adapter which was supposed to be Bridged, was not showing as “Connected”
When I tried to “Connect” It, I would recieve: “The network bridge on device ‘VMnet0’ is not running. The virtual machine will not be able to communicate with the host or with other machines on your network. Failed to connect virtual device ‘Ethernet0’”
I went into Virtual Network Editor via Edit
I took a screenshot of my previously configued settings; I had a few VMnet’s configured with different Subnet addresses.
To make any changes, you have to select Change Settings at the bottom Right
You will get pop up in Windows – Confirming you want to “allow this app to make changes to your device” – Click Yes
I then “Restored the defaults” which cleared down all the entries I had created, but restored the VMnet0 – Bridged and VMnet8 – NAT connections.
I then went ahead and re-created my VMnet Configurations from the Screenshot I took.
This resolved my issues and my VMs were back connected to the Bridged Network
